To maintain an inviting and clean environment for customers, Conkers Garden Centre approached Excel Matting for support. Their goal was to find an effective solution to minimise the transfer of dirt, water, and everyday debris from outside the main entrance into the internal floor areas. Excel Matting was tasked with providing a durable, practical system that would protect the entranceway and enhance the overall customer experience.

As the main customer entrance and a prominent showcase for Conkers Garden Centre , the matting system needed to balance visual appeal with robust, practical performance. The solution was required to effectively manage day to day debris from both pedestrian footfall and trolley traffic preventing dirt and contaminants from being transferred into internal floor areas. In addition to maintaining cleanliness the system had to meet stringent health and safety standards while ensuring full compliance with DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) regulations, providing a safe and accessible environment for all visitors. A further challenge was presented by the absence of a recessed mat well requiring a surface mounted solution that could deliver high performance without compromising either functionality or the overall aesthetic of the entrance.

Working closely with the client Excel Matting provided a range of product samples and guided Conkers Garden Centre through the available options ensuring performance needs were balanced with budget considerations. After reviewing suitability, durability and compliance needs, the SB+ matting system was selected as the ideal surface mounted solution. To complete the installation and ensure full accessibility a bespoke ramped edging system was incorporated delivering a safe, seamless and visually cohesive entrance for all visitors.
