Excel Matting were approached to supply bespoke heavy-duty entrance matting solution at the exclusive Cinema at Selfridges located on Duke Street London.

The project focused on creating a high-performance entrance system capable of handling daily visitor traffic while complementing the premium aesthetic of the cinema entrance and access routes. The system needed to provide effective dirt and moisture control helping to protect surrounding floor finishes and maintain a safe welcoming environment for guests

Protecting a High-Traffic Cinema Entrance While Maintaining a Premium Visitor Experience

The Cinema at Selfridges provides a unique entertainment destination within one of London's most prestigious department stores. The entrance and access route required a matting solution capable of handling continuous visitor footfall while preserving the high-end appearance of the venue. A durable matting solution that would capture dirt and moisture before entering the cinema spaces , improve slip resistance in all weather conditions, complement the sophisticated interior design of the venue and fully integrated finish within the existing floor construction and mat well design was required.

The Solution

A Bespoke Recessed Entrance Matting System for Performance and Aesthetics

Frontrunner+ was the selected system as the 14mm thickness fitted seamlessly to the existing recessed aluminium mat well
The entrance matting system finished with high performance ECONYL carpet inserts in a contemporary grey colour complemented Selfridges brand and quality.
The system created a seamless transition between the cinema access route and surrounding flooring. The carpet insert and scrape combination offers excellent cleaning and moisture absorption properties helping to keep internal floors cleaner for longer.
This is the 3rd application of Frontrunner+ for Selfridges following the Oxford Road entrance to the London store alongside the Birmingham bullring store.
